Thanks James! You just articulated the reason why I wrote that the idea of a Hive concept wasn't new in today's context. From your comments, I realised we've been explosed plenty of times since Herbert's novel.

it seems ok, if its the first of this genre that have not read any yet.

But nowadays, too many books on this type of hypothesis. Because I watch Sci Fi shows after I finished my Sci Fi reading era (about the time Isaac Asimov finished his Foundation series).

I think these tv series borrows their idea from these type of books.
Too name a few TV series which feature Hive community
1. Stargate Atlantis - its because the alien enemy lives in a hive community.
2. Late 80s SF tv-series - "V"
3. Star-Trek Next Generation - the Captain hate the Borg, an artificial intelligence based hive, that assimilated him - the phrase comes to mind "Resistance is Futile". Borg also appear in Star-Trek Voyager series.
4. A twist on this hive thing is an obedient oppressive regime that only allow group think - like the human spare parts in the movie "The Island", or the movie by George Lucas - "THX 1138"
5. The moves and books - StarShip Troopers
